STERILISATION PROTOCOLS

WHAT IS STERILISATION PROTOCOL ?

Sterilization in dentistry is the process of eliminating all forms of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores from instruments and equipment to prevent infections and cross-contamination.

WHY IS STERILISATION REQUIRED ?

  1. Prevents Infections: Ensures that patients are not exposed to harmful bacteria or viruses.
  2. Compliance with Health Standards: Adheres to guidelines set by health authorities like the Indian Dental Association (IDA) and World Health Organization (WHO).
  3. Protects Patients & Staff: Reduces the risk of cross-infection between patients and healthcare providers.
  4. Maintains Professionalism & Trust: Shows commitment to high-quality care and hygiene.

OUR 4 STEP STERILISATION PROCESS

  1. Cleaning & Disinfection : Instruments are first cleaned using ultrasonic cleaners to remove debris and organic matter. Surfaces, dental chairs, and frequently touched areas are disinfected after every patient.
  2. Packaging & Sealing : After cleaning, instruments are packed in sealed sterilization pouches before undergoing further sterilization.
  3. Autoclaving (Heat Sterilization) : We use Class B Autoclaves, the highest standard in sterilization, to kill bacteria, viruses, and spores with high-pressure steam at 121-134°C.
  4. Storage & Safe Handling : Sterilized instruments are stored in a contamination-free zone and only opened in front of the patient before treatment.

HOW DO WE ENSURE 100% STERILISATION ?

Disposable Items: Single-use items like gloves, masks, and syringes are discarded after every patient.
Chemical Indicators: We use sterilization indicators that change color to confirm successful sterilization.
Daily Monitoring: Our autoclaves are tested daily to maintain efficiency.
